The weekend got off to a good start with the near perfect weather for the tuning day on Saturday where the pace picked up as the day went on and by the end of session everyone was ready for the Collie TT on Sunday.
First up on the grid were the Period 5 250/350/500/Unlimited ,in R1 Rory Reibel on his Suzuki got off to a great start and didn't look back leading Jay Barnes riding his Honda to the flag by 4.5 secs with Tony Hynes on the Yamaha coming in just over a sec behind Jay. In R2 Rory Reibel wound up his Suzuki and headed straight thru' to take the chequered flag with Tony Hynes on the Yamaha following by 4.5 secs with Bob Humphreys on the Honda coming in 3rd. In R3 Rory Reibel again got the drop on the 15 bike field and cruised thru' to take the top podium beating Jay Barnes by 13 secs with Tony Hynes coming in just under a sec behind to take 3rd .
Next up were the Period 2 350/350, Period 3 250/350/500 with 13 bikes in the field ,Billy Couch on the Moriwaki getting away to a good start lead Kathleen Mercer on her Honda ,getting to take the flag by a clear 17 secs ,coming in 3rd was Gary Tenardi on the 1935 Ariel .In R2 Billy Couch on the Moriwaki took off at the start and didn't look back as he went on to take the flag by 7 secs with his nearest rider Gary Tenardi on the black Ariel ,coming in to claim 3rd on the podium was young Kathleen Mercer on the Honda .In R3 Gary Tenardi riding the mighty 1935 Ariel
held off Dave Bunnet on the 1942 BSA to take the flag by 4 secs, coming in to take 3rd Shaun Oliver riding his Ducati.
Up on the start next were the Period 6 250/500,Sportslites ,Richard Langdon riding his Suzuki rode well to hold off Matt Powell on his Suzuki by just over ½ sec ,with another Suzuki rider Marc Cartier coming in just over 2 sec behind.R2 started with Richard Langdon cranking up the Suzuki to take the lead and go on to get the chequered flag ,with Marc Cartier coming in 2.5 secs behind just holding out Matt Powell who finished well.
The Period 4 250/350/Unlimited, Rule 20 were the next group to line up ,Glen Ottley riding his Suzuki got away well to ride on to take the flag beating his nearest rival David Haines by just over 6 sec's ,closing in taking 3rd spot was Mark Jefferies also on a Suzuki .R2 started and Glen Ottely took off and never looked back taking the flag with a 13 sec lead ,Mark Jefferies coming in 2nd was 13 secs ahead of Chris Gammidge who was riding his Honda claimed 3rd spot.R3 got away with Glen Otterly getting away to another great start and headed to the flag with a 13 sec lead over David Haines who took 2nd ,coming in 3rd 12 secs behind was Chris Gammidge .
Moderns & Thunderbikes were the next group with Steve Crane riding his Honda getting away to a flying start easily claiming top spot with an 8 sec gap to Bernard Shanahan riding a Buell, coming in 3rd was Joshua Matters on a Suzuki .In R2 Steve Crane again cranked up the Honda to claim the flag with Joshua Matters 6.5 secs back getting 2nd, Marc Cartier on the Suzuki taking 3rd.In R3 Steve Crane again got away to a great start cranking the Honda first thru' T1 ,followed by Marc Cartier with Joshua Matters ,it was Crane again who took the flag with Cartier getting 2nd spot ,Matters claiming 3rd.
The Juniors 12 Under 16 years were next to line up , Scott Topping got away to a great start and was the first into the first turn and didn't look back as he rode his Honda well to take the flag by just over 4 sec's with Jonah Sita and Lachlan Keogh also on a Honda taking 2nd and 3rd spot respectively .R2 got away and again Scott Topping and Adam Haines dueling for position into T1 ,Scott Topping got ahead and went on to win by just over 4 secs ,Adam Haines claiming 2nd with Lachlan Keogh coming in 3rd. R3 got away and was no different to the previous 2 races as Scott Topping rode his Honda well to go on to claim 1st spot with a 10 sec lead over Jonah Sita who got the 2nd spot on the podium ,Lachlan Keogh claimed 3rd place.
Sidecars were the next on the program ,in R1 after a scramble for position for T1 the combo of Travis Reid / Tristan Scalmer got their Suzuki thru' and went on to win R1 with the S + R Dillon combo riding a Kawasaki coming in to take 2nd place ,J.Mattaboni/Z.Mattaboni also on a Suzuki claimed 3rd. In R2 again the combo of T.Reid/T.Scalmer got away to a great start squeezing out the combo of M.Ackermans/D.Mercer to get into the lead at the first turn ,the Reid/Scalmer sidecar went on to beat the M.Ackermans/D.Mercer combo with J.Mattaboni/Z.Mattaboni coming 3rd again .In R3 M.Ackermans/D.Mercer fortunes changed and went on to claim the top spot on the podium as the consistent combo of J.Mattaboni/Z.Mattaboni came in to claim 2nd spot ,3rd spot went to M.Smith who tied his swinger in (LouiseMcCann) rode well to claim the remaining spot.
The 125GP, Period 6 Formula 750 group were the next to start with David Doherty riding on his Honda came out of T1 in the lead, rode well and went on to take the flag with Will Jones and David Manson also riding Hondas battling for 2 + 3 rd spot respectively .R2 got away and Will Jones got the jump and was the first out of T1 with David Doherty hotly in pursuit, Jones rode away to take the flag with David Manson coming in to take 3rd spot.
A good weekend was had by all and thanks to the HCMCWA.
