                                  The 2013 TISSOT Australian MotoGp had all the makings of  a great racing weekend,the three (3) classes are all evenly contested with only 1 win seperating the leaders in each of the 3 classes .But as fate would have it ,it turned out to be a race of surprises with the MotoGp (19 laps.)+ Moto 2  (13 laps.)races being shortened for safety reasons, ( the tyre manufacturer couldn’t guarantee that the tyres would last the distance), this was due to the possiblibity of  excessive tyre wear due to the track being resurfaced over the summer. Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez were having a great dual up the front of the pack ,but when Marquez  pitted 1 lap to late to change bikes ,he was black flagged along with Aussie Bryan Staring who’s team also forgot to wave there rider in. To say that Marc Marquez was disappointed would be an understatement as if he would’ve won the race he would’ve sealed the championship, .Jorge Lorenzo went on to win the race by just under 7 seconds, with Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi filling the remaining spots on the Podium.

In Moto 2  POL Espargaro ,Thomas Luthi ,Jordi Torres and Simone Corsi had a real fight up the front end of the pack with only .89 sec's seperating them after their 13 lap race. In Moto 3 there were 5 riders  Alex Rins , Maverick Vinales ,Luis Salom ,Alex Marquez and Australia's Jack Miller that ended up less than 1 second apart providing some exciting racing for the spectators,so it was anyone's race .

        As always the support classes ,Aussie Superbikes and Supersport ,the Australian Juniors were well represented and there races were hotly contested .

         On a spectator point of view it was disappointing as some people had ridden/driven over 3,500 km to get to the Island for Australia's premier Motorsport event ,the 2013 TISSOT Australian MotoGp only to watch a reduced race , rider safety will  always be a priority .
