The weekend got underway with the track in fog and some drizzle was falling which made things a bit slick to start with ,the first group out on the track were the 4 new juniors who were being shown the ropes with Bob and Rob. Then the senior groups headed out for their practice , tuning and coaching as the day went on the smiles began to appear ,and by the end of the days riding the smiles on the riders were getting bigger and ready for the days racing on Sunday.
In Period 2 + 3 Alex Kennedy riding his BSA took the top podium in all 3 races with Shaun Oliver snr taking the 2nd spots on his Ducati , Suellyn Luckett who also was riding her Ducati went on to claim her 3rd podium finish for the day.
Next out on the grid where the Period 5 Junior,Senior and Unlimited with Rory Reibel riding his Suzuki rode well to take out all 3 races , Tony Logan and Daniel Barson also riding on Suzuki's had a great tussle with Logan taking two 2nd places and a third spot ,Barson taking a 2nd with 2 third places.
Period 6 250/500 , 125GP lined up on the grid and Richard Langdon on his Suzuki got away to a great start and was never headed and went on to take the flag in the first race,completing the podiums were Matt Powell on a Suzuki with 3rd spot going to Neal Grey on a Yamaha .In race 2 it was Neal Grey who was first into the corner and going on to take the flag ,whilst being hottly pusued by Matt Powell who claimed 2nd spot with David Doherty on a Honda getting the last spot on the podium.In R3 Neal Grey again got away well to take the lead and go onto win the race with Richard Langdon taking 2 spot and Matt Powell claiming the 3rd place.The Sidecars lined up next with 10 rigs on the grid which is the most seen for a few years .R1 got away with the Murray combo on their Suzuki getting a great start and just kept going to take the flag by just over 14 secs from Davies /Toit riding the Suzuki who were being hotly pursued by the combo of Ackermans/Barson.R2 got away and it was again the Murray combo who got away and just kept going to take the flag from the Honda of Harvey/Jeal ,and Davies and Toit taking 3rd spot,R3 was away and it was the combo of the Murrays who again got into the first cnr and just rode on to take the flag ,Harvey and Jeal went on to take 2nd spot ,with another solid performance it was Davies/Toit who collected another 3rd spot.
In the Period 4,250/350/unlimited and rule 20 Glen Ottley on his Suzuki got away well to go on and take the flag with Bob Humphreys on the Honda taking 2nd spot ,with 3rd going to Dave Haines on his Suzuki.In R2 it was again Glen Ottley who rode away into the distance with Bob Humphreys in pursiut but only managed to pick up 2nd spot ,Dave Haines going on to take the third spot on the podium .In R3 it was again Ottley who rode away to take the top spot on the podium with Dave Haines gettingthe 2nd spot on the podium and third going to Bernard Shanahan on a Yamaha.
In the Juniors 12 and under 16 it was Scott Topping who got away to ride his Honda to the top spot on the podium ,Lachlan Keogh on his Honda went on to take 2nd spot while Bronson Pickett also on a Honda took third,in R2 it was Scott Topping who again got away well to another good start and went on to take the flag with Lachlan Keogh taking 2nd and Joel Couch on a Moriwaki taking 3rd.In R3 it was Scott Topping who went on to take his 3rd win of the day with Lachlan Keogh also taking his 3rd second place ,Joel Couch coming in to take a 3rd spot.
The Moderns + Thunderbikes,Period 6 750/Unlimited were the next group lining up and it was Steve Crane on a Honda who rode into the first corner and kept on going to get the flag,Marc Cartier on a Suzuki getting 2nd with Matt Connelly on his Yamaha coming in 3rd place.In R 2 it was again Steve Crane who got away to a great start and kept on going to get his 2nd flag for the day ,Marc Cartier riding well went on to take the second spot with Pascal De Roche on a Honda came in 3rd.R3 got away and it was again Steve Crane who had rode the wheels off his Honda to take yet another flag ,the podium was rounded out by Pascal De Roche taking 2nd and a consistant Marc Cartier who collected his 3rd podium for the day.
